Between islands

The three legs.

Early August brings the Meltemi. Statistical expectation: ~1 of our 3 legs sees a weather cancellation. Every leg has a named Plan B.

How Meltemi affects ferries

Early August brings dry northerly winds, 5–7 Beaufort typical, occasional 8+. Seajets high-speeds cancel first; Blue Star conventional ferries run unless >7 Beaufort.

Greek maritime law treats Meltemi as force majeure — operators only refund the ticket, not hotels or meals. Travel insurance must cover weather cancellation (Heymondo or World Nomads fit this). Monitor Windy and Poseidon HCMR the night before each leg.

Book three separate Ferryhopper reservations for 4 + 4 + 4 (under the 20-pax group threshold). Add the Flexi add-on on all three legs for free re-booking if weather cancels.

Budget

Three tiers, itemised.

Per person, all-in. The group can mix tiers — pick whatever level works for you.

Figures include 12% service and local tax. Re-verify ±14 days before deposit. Add a 3–5% Meltemi contingency on top.
